Although Android 15 hasn’t even rolled out everywhere yet, we’re already looking ahead to Android 16, which gives you one less irritation.
Creating an operating system isn’t done overnight. That’s why Google is already working on Android 16 right now. In that version, it will soon be easier to remove icons from your Quick Settings.
And that’s very nice, because there are probably some that you don’t use but still have a hard time getting rid of. So you’ll have even more control over your own Android device.
Google makes a very fine change for Android 16
The news comes from leaker Mystic Leaks, who is often correct. On Telegram, he posted a picture of the Quick Settings for Android 16, where something stands out, as it is possible to remove icons.
We now see a minus at those settings in Android 16. That means you can manually remove them from the screen and adjust them. That allows you to customize your smartphone even more and is also more user-friendly.

For some users it may be old news, as a number of manufacturers already offer this feature. That’s because they create a special shell around Android in which they customize settings. One of these is Samsung. Google itself, on the other hand, does not do it with its Pixel, as they use the original version. So that should change next year with android 16.
Waiting for the new version of the operating system
That’s not the only thing that’s going to change about the feature, by the way. It was previously leaked that the appearance of Quick Settings would be addressed. A logical move by Google, since they are used quite a bit.
Still, we don’t seem to have to wait too long for Android 16. The operating system should be released sometime in the second quarter of 2025. So this means sometime in April, May or June. This is noteworthy because this means the operating system will be released earlier than usual.
