Apple TV has hidden features you want to know about

You probably can’t live without your Apple TV anymore. These hidden features will make you love this device even more.

Apple TV is a wonderful gadget that you can do many things with. Not only can you stream movies and series on it, but also listen to music and play games. And with handy features like AirPlay, you can also easily connect your phone or tablet for extra entertainment.

But in addition to the familiar features, there are also some hidden gems to discover on the iconic Apple TV. We’ve taken up the challenge and collected some features we don’t think you know about yet. These handy options will make your daily entertainment experience a lot better.

Apple TV gets even better with these handy features

Our tips will have you becoming a true Apple TV expert in no time. Here they come!

Set a timer for your Apple TV

This is really a feature you want to use every day. Just hold down the TV button to open the Control Panel. Find the timer function and your device will automatically turn off after 30 minutes, or an hour or two.

That way you don’t have to worry about accidentally leaving your TV on all night. Super convenient if you like to watch a movie or series before you go to sleep.

Apple Music Sing

This feature is perfect for karaoke! If you have the latest Apple TV 4K, simply open a song on Apple Music and tap the microphone icon in the bottom right corner.

The feature lowers a song’s vocals so you can sing along nicely. You can also use your iPhone to conjure up cool visual effects on your TV.

Apple Music SharePlay

We’ll stick with Apple Music for a while. If you often throw parties or invite friends over to your home, sometimes they want to play DJ as well. In this case, you can easily let them add songs to your playlist.

Open Apple Music on your Apple TV or HomePod, and on your iPhone, tap the SharePlay icon at the bottom of the screen. Share that QR code with your friends so they can also add songs to the queue.

Creating folders

If you use a lot of apps on your Apple TV, the menu can become quite a mess. If you hold down an Apple TV app for a moment, you can create a folder with it.

This makes it easy to neatly organize your favorite apps and the ones you don’t always use. This makes it a lot easier to quickly find what you’re looking for. Plus, your home screen looks a lot tidier.

Realtime movie facts

This feature, somewhat similar to what you see at Amazon Prime Video, lets you see real-time info about actors, characters and music in Apple TV+ movies and shows.

You can select an actor to learn more about their background and career, or quickly view the song playing in a scene and add it to your Apple Music playlist. And good news: it’s also available with the tvOS 18 update.

Flying profile changes on Apple TV

Did you know you can just switch profiles in the control panel? If you have other people in your iCloud family, you can add their accounts to your Apple TV.

This will make you see personalized content and Apple TV+ recommendations. Just briefly hold down the Home button and tap your profile icon to switch.
