The Creative Technology company is coming out with in-ear earbuds that may be striving to knock Apple’s AirPods off the throne. Not just in terms of design and sound, but especially in terms of price.
The Apple AirPods are considered by many to be the Boss over Boss when it comes to in-ear earbuds. Not only is the sound unimaginably good, especially the active noise cancellation (ANC) is inimitable. They are still a bit spicy pricey, though (unless you know where to look). Creative Technology wants to knock Apple off its throne with the Creative Zen Air. By their own admission, they are just as good but much cheaper.
Creative Zen Air look like Apple’s AirPods but much cheaper
The first thing you notice about the Zens is that they look tremendously like the Airpods. They have a sleek, minimalist design (somewhat similar to that of the Nothing Ears) and come in a charging case that looks smaller than that of the AirPods.
The specs of the new headset don’t lie either. For example, the caps are capable of delivering up to 18 hours of playback time. They also have 10-millimeter neodymium drivers, Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity and, with its IPX4 rating, can stand up to water just fine.
Active noise cancellation
Like Apple’s AirPods, the Zen Airs have active noise cancellation. That means it scans noise from the environment and actively adjusts the amount of suppression. So when you’re busy at work, or out for a nice run, the Zen Air blocks out all unwanted noise.
The pods are also very light: they weigh only 46 grams. Lighter, in other words, than Apple’s AirPods. In addition, the earbuds have four microphones so you always sound clear when you have an online conversation. They can also be used for 18 hours and can be charged wirelessly.
Creative Technology also states that the earbuds feature technology that supports SXFI devices that have Super X-Fi Spatial Holography. This gives you a spatial sound similar to Apple’s Spatial Audio.
On paper, the Zen Air may well become a formidable competitor to Apple, especially because of its price. They are available for only $59.99 on Creative Technology’s site.
