Disney+ has introduced its new subscriptions. This is what you will pay for the streaming service from now on.
In past years, it was easy with Disney+ because there was only one subscription available. You could choose whether you wanted to pay per month, or prefer a whole year at a discount.
Now things are getting a little more complicated, as Disney+ is introducing three different subscriptions. There is both good and bad news: you can be both cheaper and more expensive, depending on your choice.
New Disney+ subscriptions.
Back in August, Disney+ announced its new subscription options, and as of today, they really go into effect. You now have three different choices.
Premium
Let’s start with the familiar Disney+ subscription you’re used to. This is now called the Premium subscription. However, the price has been increased: instead of 10.99 euros, you now pay 13.99 euros per month or 139.90 euros per year.
For that amount, you can watch series on four screens simultaneously in 4K UHD and HDR quality. You can also download movies and series on up to 10 devices. As for sound, this subscription offers Dolby Atmos audio.

Standard
However, there are also two cheaper options. First is the Disney+ Standard subscription, which costs $9.99 a month or $99.90 a year. Instead of 4K, you have to make do with Full HD quality here. The sound is also less, with 5.1 audio, and you can only watch on two screens at once.
Disney+ with ads
The last and cheapest option is the subscription with ads. This subscription costs $5.99 per month and can only be taken out monthly. There is little difference from the Standard subscription, except that you cannot download movies or series. So you must always be online to watch.
Finally, if you share a subscription with someone outside your household, that will soon come to an end. Disney+ is following Netflix’s lead and is going to take measures against subscription sharing. You can read more about that in the article below.
