Bummed that you can’t use Apple Intelligence on your iPhone yet? Google may have the solution.
Apple Intelligence may be the biggest reason to buy a new iPhone – at least, if you live in the United States. In the Netherlands, the AI feature won’t be available until April. Fortunately, Google is working on an alternative and will probably be available sooner.
Google plans to bring a special Gemini app to the iPhone soon. This will give you direct access to AI and you will no longer have to rely solely on ChatGPT.
Google Gemini will compete with Apple intelligence and ChatGPT
The AI race is in full swing. Apple first introduced Apple Intelligence last month. Due to the Digital Markets Act (DMA), we can only use the AI features on the MacBook for now, while we have to wait until April for the iPhone version. Right now, you only have a ChatGPT app on your iPhone, but that’s about to change.
A Google Gemini app has been spotted, although it is not yet available in the Netherlands or the United States, but in the Philippines. The app is still in the testing phase and not yet ready for a global launch. Eventually, it would offer more features than the ChatGPT app and really compete with Apple Intelligence.

The new Google Gemini app for iPhone supports Live activities. So you can talk to it even without having the app open. This could even make Gemini a potential alternative to Siri.
Still in testing phase
Still, we have to wait a while until the app launches here. X user and MacRumors editor Aaron, who discovered the feature, reports that the version is still very unstable in the Philippines. Google seems to be using the country for a thorough test of the app. Only when it is stable can we expect it here as well.

It is positive that Google is developing its own Gemini app for the iPhone, as this will soon give you a choice between Apple Intelligence and Google Gemini.
By the way, you can already use Gemini on your iPhone through the Google app. Open the app and press the blue star icon at the top of the screen. Nice that this option is there, but most iPhone users won’t be following these steps anytime soon. A dedicated app will make access easier, and that will likely increase Gemini’s popularity.
