You can already type commands in Google Gemini in Dutch. Soon the AI chatbot will also speak to you in Dutch.
ChatGPT is perhaps the best known AI Chatbot, but Google is also working on its own variant. Although the company missed the mark a bit in the beginning, the service has improved tremendously. But now Google Gemini is getting even better.
You could already type in Dutch with Gemini, but now you can also just talk Dutch with it.
Talk Dutch to me (Google Gemini Live)
Last year, Google introduced Gemini Live during Made by Google. This made it possible to have fluid conversations with the chatbot in English. As of now, forty new languages are being added. One of them is Dutch. The entire rollout should take place in the coming weeks.
In total, you can opt for two supported languages on the same device. You do this by indicating your preferred languages in the Google app. To do this, tap your profile picture or initials. Then you go to Settings > Google Assistant > Languages. Next, choose the language in which you want to talk to Gemini. You can also specify the second assisting language there.
Here’s what you can do with Google Gemini Live
Unlike the regular version of Google Gemini, Live is really focused on having conversations with you. It should be like a friend you are talking to. Gemini Live is therefore a bit more social than the regular version.
In turn, you have slightly different conversations. For example, you can ask Gemini Live for advice. So you brainstorm about different topics and you can ask him, for example, which jobs fit well with your skills or degree.
Planning an event is also very simple through Google Gemini Live. If you are organizing a birthday party for your family, you can say exactly what you need and how you want it. For example, if Uncle Charles doesn’t like cream cake, you can tell the chatbot that right away, and it will come up with alternatives.
But you can also spar with Gemini on all sorts of topics. Need to talk about the Romans? Prepare for a whole discussion about Julius Caesar. However, it is also possible to talk about topics specific to your region. For example, consider a conversation about your favorite soccer team.
Pairing with other apps
You can also link Google Gemini’s information with your favorite apps. It is possible to add extensions. For example, you can have Gemini read the pizza recipe you were sent in your Gmail. Then it can immediately create a shopping list.
