Loose Cybertruck rams home just hours after it was purchased

Tesla’s rugged Cybertruck is garnering some criticism on X, as it turns out the electric car is not quite fluffy.

Tesla’s new Cybertruck was heralded as indestructible. Thanks to its armored glass and futuristic design, this new electric car would be able to handle all weather conditions. In practice, that turns out to be a bit tricky.

A new Cybertruck driver could hardly enjoy his vehicle. The man was overjoyed with his new Tesla, but after only a few hours he had to return to the garage. He shared his bizarre experience on X.

The Tesla Cybertruck you’d rather not drive

The driver, known on X as @bfreshwa, shared a video showing his new Tesla Cybertruck going down a hill at a tremendous speed. Then the vehicle also collides with a porch.

According to the owner, the rear brakes jammed when the car accelerated and the steering wheel suddenly stopped working. The X-user wrote disappointedly, “I waited five years for this car and haven’t even been able to connect it to the wifi at home.” He reportedly paid $109,000 for the Tesla Cybertruck and had the new car for less than five hours.

Fortunately, no one was injured in the accident. But the electric car did have to undergo major surgery. The background of the video below shows how it went wrong:

When the driver contacted Tesla, he was told that “the accelerator pedal sometimes does not cooperate when the brakes are applied. That in itself is the least you can expect from an electric car.

The man must now arrange a repair through his insurance company. It could be up to a year before he can drive his Tesla Cybertruck again. The repairs are expected to cost about $30,000. A big bummer, in other words.

Tesla has some explaining to do

Accidents with the new Tesla Cybertruck are becoming more common. Tesla recently recalled nearly all Cybertrucks for the fourth time since its release. This recall affects cars made between Nov. 13, 2023 and May 26, 2024.

Tesla describes the problem in a rather cryptic way: “The Cybertruck has a special trim along the outside of the cargo box, known as the tarp applique, which is attached with glue. On some trucks, this trim is not properly attached, so it can become loose or fall off.”

There would also be problems with windshield wipers not working. This is quite concerning, especially considering the vehicle was launched less than a year ago. So it appears Tesla’s new car is not nearly as advanced as announced.
