Wishing all your friends list a happy New Year around midnight is quite a hassle. However, it doesn’t have to be. With this handy trick for WhatsApp, you can send all your friends a Happy New Year in one fell swoop.
It’s a regular thing: when the clock strikes 00:00 on New Year’s Eve, you’ve already received numerous New Year’s wishes and are sending them to friends and family yourself. That takes quite a bit of time. Time you might prefer to spend with the people who are with you at that moment. So send your New Year’s wishes to everyone at once via WhatsApp. Nice and easy!
WhatsApp: wish a happy new year with one tap
Grab WhatsApp on your iPhone, open the Chats tab and hit Send Lists. You’ll find this at the top, below the search bar. Press New List and add all the recipients you want. Have you selected everyone? Then press Create. You have now created a mailing list.
If you have an Android device, open WhatsApp’s menu and choose New Send List. Select the recipients and press the arrow to create the list. Press Messages at the top of the list to see which contacts are in it.

Create multiple mailing lists
It is possible to add up to 256 contacts to a mailing list. Want to wish even more people a Happy New Year? Then create multiple mailing lists. Note that only contacts who have you set as a contact can receive a message. WhatsApp wants to prevent spamming with this.
A mailing list is useful when you want to reach many people, but do not want to create a group chat for this purpose. With a mailing list you send a message through individual chats. Very handy to send a party invitation to several people or to let them know you arrived safely on vacation.
