The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 leaks out and doesn’t seem to do a whole lot of exciting things in terms of appearance. That means it follows the Galaxy S24 Ultra from earlier this year and leans on AI features. But good isn’t that.
The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is a great smartphone, but it is not really innovative compared to the previous model. The device has practically the same specifications, but is assisted by the power of Galaxy AI.
Galaxy AI is certainly an added value to Samsung’s fleet, but its availability on older devices does not make it a reason to purchase the S24 Ultra as far as I am concerned. So the fact that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is practically going in the same direction is unfortunate. To say the least.

Will the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 also lean on Galaxy AI?
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 may not be long in coming. The foldable Android smartphone is likely to be announced sometime in July. This considering this was also the case with the Fold 5 last year. Although that time of announcement is not the only thing that has similarities to the previous model.
Where the Galaxy Z Fold 5 was not a major upgrade over its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 does not seem to be either. Like the Galaxy S24 Ultra, rumors now seem to point to a minimal upgrade. Samsung will use the device primarily to promote Galaxy AI.
That may be necessary, because where Samsung was previously unique with its foldable lineup, anno 2024 faces plenty of competition. Yes, there are a lot of features from Galaxy AI also available on other devices, but Samsung could create a gap by saving the best for its foldable device.
After all, where other manufacturers are catching on with more efficient designs and better deals, Samsung is kind of stuck in the 2019 story with a price tag that hasn’t changed much since that first model.

When is Galaxy Unpacked?
It is difficult to draw conclusions based on rumors, because I am very curious to know what Samsung is planning with the Fold line. In that regard, it is simply waiting for Galaxy Unpacked, but when that will take place is not yet known.
Looking at last year, with the launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5, we can expect an event around the end of July. Last year, Seoul, the capital of South Korea, was chosen as the stage. What the plans are for this year is not clear, but what we can expect is.
In addition to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, we can also get ready for the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and, with any luck, we will also be introduced to the Galaxy Ring, which saw the light of day during MWC 2024. Well, and then those AirPods-like earbuds can’t be left behind.
