Samsung has a gadget with the Premiere 9 that turns your living room into a movie theater. But at a price.
If you’re like me and love an evening of movie watching, you can regularly be found at the cinema. Enjoying a night out on a big screen with impressive audio. Samsung makes that possible at home too, and without a smart TV.
Samsung has some exceptional projectors in its lineup. One of the brand’s best is the Premiere 9. You put this one right up against the wall, then you get 4K images on your wall (or a screen). But how does it work?
The Samsung Premiere: a new standard
The Samsung Premiere takes beamers to a new level. It works differently than other projectors. Instead of placing it away from the wall, you put the Premiere 9 right up against it. That way it takes up much less space. Ideal if, for example, you don’t want a big black rectangular screen in your living room.
Samsung already has a television with the Frame that you can turn into a painting to make your TV less conspicuous. Yet the Premiere 9 goes quite a bit further. All you have is a white stylish box that you place on a table or cabinet near the wall. You neatly tuck the cables behind it.

Inside that box is not only a projector, but also an excellent speaker. Although I personally use it mostly with my Sonos Arc Ultra for even better sound, the sound from the projector itself is also very good. That’s because of the space inside the box. Unlike a flat-screen TV, there is more room for speakers in this model.
Easy installation and operation
Connecting the Samsung Premiere 9 is a piece of cake. Adjusting image size and straightening is also easy via the menu. Unfortunately, the remote control occasionally lets me down. For example, it is not always responsive.
Fortunately, there is Samsung’s Smart Things app, which also allows you to control the Premiere 9. Still, even that doesn’t always work smoothly. To get the device to turn on, I have to boot up my cable company’s box before I can turn on the Premiere 9, when in fact I should be able to do so without it.
Cinema-level picture quality with the Samsung Premiere 9
However, the picture quality makes up for a lot. With the Samsung Premiere 9, my living room really feels like a movie theater. It has 4K resolution, which makes every movie and series look stunning in large format. The colors are impressive, with more than 1 billion hues and support for HDR 10+.

Although viewing in the dark offers the best experience, this projector provides excellent image quality even when lit. Everything remains clearly visible, something that many other projectors struggle with. This is due to the special triple laser technology inside the device.
Gaming is also fantastic on the Samsung Premiere 9. I myself spent quite a few hours playing Indiana Jones, and it looked great. The large image size really made me imagine myself in the game.
The big drawback: the price
So is it all hosanna with the Samsung Premiere 9? Almost, but there is one major drawback: the price. The Samsung Premiere 9 is at the forefront of technology and features, and that’s reflected in the cost. At Samsung itself, it costs €6,799.
For that amount, you can also buy an excellent TV. In fact, a 77-inch OLED 4K TV from Samsung costs half that. If you want a television that is not prominent, Samsung also has the 85-inch Frame for €3,500. Moreover, a Pro version of the Premiere will be released in 2025 that is even better.
The Premiere 9 is a great device, but you pay a hefty price for it. Can you spare almost €7,000? Then it’s definitely worth it, because your living room has become a cinema in one fell swoop. However, if you want the benefits of a television, such as 8K or OLED, then you’re better off going for a top-of-the-line model that costs less.

Price Control with remote control and Smart Things app not always convenient
The Samsung Premiere 9 is a high-quality 4K projector that can be placed close to the wall and offers impressive image and sound quality. Thanks to its triple laser technology, it performs well even in low-light conditions and makes your living room feel like a movie theater. Its biggest drawback is its hefty price of €6,799.
