Samsung smart TV gets better with these settings

If you own a Samsung Smart TV, you know how pleasant it is to use. But with a few tweaks, you can make the experience even better

If you’ve just bought a new Samsung smart TV, chances are you took it out of the box, plugged it in and immediately started watching your favorite movie or series. Logical, but did you know that your settings are probably all wrong?

Manufacturers set their televisions to look extra bright and colorful in the store, but that doesn’t mean you get the best picture quality at home. With a few simple adjustments, you can get a lot more out of your screen.

Your Samsung smart TV gets a lot better thanks to these quick tips

Get the most out of your Samsung smart TV with the help of these tips.

Turn off power saving settings

For starters, it’s smart to turn off power-saving settings. These are meant to save power, but in practice they cause your image to darken unnecessarily.

Go to Settings > All Settings > General and Privacy > Energy and Power Saving and set Power Saving Solution to Off.

While you’re there, you can also turn off Brightness Optimization on your Samsung smart TV. Many TVs have sensors that automatically adjust brightness and color temperature based on ambient light, but this feature doesn’t always work well.

Choose the right picture mode for your Samsung smart TV

Now that you have more control over the brightness of your Samsung smart TV, it’s time to choose the right picture mode. In the settings, you can switch between different options under Picture mode.

For most people, Cinema, Movie or Filmmaker Mode are the best choices because they provide a more natural and realistic picture. Dynamic Mode may sound appealing, but it exaggerates colors and sometimes makes contrast unnaturally bright.

🤔

When is Dynamic mode useful?

Dynamic mode can be useful if you watch TV in a bright room, such as during a sunny day. This is because then you can use an extra boost in brightness to keep the picture clearly visible. It is less suitable for movies and series, but for sports or other fast-paced images, it can help you see everything more clearly.

Adjust brightness for day and night

Because you look under different lighting conditions during the day and at night, it is useful to adjust the brightness. During the day you often want a brighter image, while at night you prefer slightly softer settings.

Go to Settings > Image > Expert Settings > Brightness and adjust to your preference.

Want even more control? Set separate brightness levels for SDR (Standard Dynamic Range) and HDR (High Dynamic Range) content so you always get the most out of your image, no matter what you’re watching on your Samsung smart TV.

Play with local dimming settings

Want to go one step further? Then you can also adjust the Local Dimming settings. This helps improve contrasts and deep blacks.

Go to Settings > All Settings > Picture > Expert Settings > Local Dimming.

Adjusting the local dimming settings allows you to fine-tune the contrast and brightness of your Samsung smart TV. If you choose the Low setting, you will get less bright highlights, as well as less of the “halo effect” around light objects on a dark background.

Instead, do you want more intense contrast and a brighter image, especially in daylight? Then Standard or High mode is a better choice.

💡

What is the halo effect?

The halo effect is a light glow that appears around bright objects on a dark background, especially on TVs with “local dimming. This happens because the TV struggles to maintain light in exactly the right place.

Use your remote control smarter

Finally, a handy tip: if you have multiple devices such as a soundbar or game console connected to your Samsung smart TV, you can make control easier by enabling Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC).

This allows you to control multiple devices with one remote, such as controlling the volume of your soundbar or turning on your game console through your TV. Go to Settings > Connection > External Device Manager and enable Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC).
