Samsung has already brought quite a few foldables with its Galaxy Z line. A cheap one is still missing, but that seems to be changing.
There have been rumors about the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 FE for a long time. It was supposed to be the low-cost alternative to Samsung’s foldable smartphones.
However, that smartphone does not seem to be coming now. Still, Samsung is not giving up hope for a cheap foldable, as it seems to be working on another model.
No cheaper Samsung Foldable in 2024.
According to Korea’s The Elec, Samsung has canceled the Galaxy Z Fold 6 FE. The company would not be able to make the foldable phone as thin as it would like. This means it would not be thinner than its Chinese rivals offering cheaper foldables.
However, there is an alternative, although we will have to wait a while for that. According to the same source, the company does work on the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE. OK, it’s a Flip instead of a Fold, but a cheaper folding phone. It should then hit the market in 2025.

Also no Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra
Incidentally, another folding phone also seems to have been canceled if rumors are to be believed. The device in question is the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra. This smartphone is supposed to have higher specs than the regular Z Fold 6.
Although the device is not specifically mentioned in The Elec’s report, it only says something about a regular Z Fold 6 this year. That would mean that it is not coming out this year anyway, if it was planned at all by Samsung itself.
What will come?
Well, according to the rumors, those two previously mentioned smartphones are not coming. So in all likelihood, we will have to make do with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6. With that, the brand seems to continue the trend of recent years with two foldable smartphones in the summer.
OK, so these are still rumors, but The Elec has often been right. So we will mostly have to wait and see what Samsung is really up to.
