Samsung’s smart glasses have been delayed to the third quarter of 2025, according to rumors. The company is also limiting production to half a million units.
After the Apple Vision Pro and Ray Ban Meta, Samsung cannot be left behind in the smart glasses market. During Galaxy Unpacked in 2023, it therefore enthusiastically presented a collaboration with Google and Qualcomm for a new pair of smart glasses. Although the glasses are still a while away it appears from new rumors.
Whereas Samsung’s smart glasses were previously expected to see the light of day in early 2025, this has now been postponed until the third quarter of 2025, according to South Korean media. Also, only 500,000 units are expected to be made initially. This could mean that the smart glasses will only be available in a limited number of markets.
More details leaked
Although nothing officially concrete has been brought out yet, it seems that the smart glasses will have a 12 megapixel camera and a battery with a 155 mAh capacity. The Qualcomm processor going into the glasses is believed to be the AR1 chip. All in all, the glasses should weigh about 50 grams. Still, that’s 20 grams heavier than these smart glasses from Chamelo.
Samsung’s smart glasses should also work seamlessly with Google Gemini. Same as other smart glasses, you can ask the glasses a question and get an answer through the a built-in speaker. The AI features on the Ray Ban Meta work in a similar way.

Who is Samsung’s smart glasses competitor?
Of course, it is coffee-gazing whether the above specifications are actually the right ones. If it turns out to be true, it remains to be seen with whom Samsung will compete? With Apple or with Meta?
Whereas at first it was thought that Samsung’s glasses would have to compete with the Apple Vision Pro, based on the leaked specs it seems more likely that Meta will have to set itself up for competition. Because if you take a closer look at the specifications, you can conclude that to use smart glasses you need a smartphone.
Of course, it is also still possible that Samsung, Google and Qualcomm are developing multiple glasses. Both a competitor to the Apple Vision Pro and Meta Quest 3 as well as the Ray Ban Meta. But there are no concrete indications of that for now.
We will have to be patient for a while before we really know what will be launched. When this will happen and whether Samsung’s smart glasses will come to the Netherlands right away remains to be seen. After all, the Samsung Galaxy Ring did not come out right away for the Dutch market either.
