Sonos Era 100 and 300 have a big problem with

There have been rumors about new speakers from Sonos for a long time, but finally the company has revealed its plans. Everything seemed perfect, but a major drawback has now surfaced for Android users who are fond of Google Assistant.

They’re finally here: the Sonos Era 100 and Era 300. While the Era 100 is the successor to the Sonos One, the Era 300 is an even more luxurious speaker for spatial audio. What immediately stands out are the prices. They are 279 euros and 499 euros, respectively. A hefty sometimes money and so you expect everything to be right. With the iPhone this is the case, but with Android it is a different story.

Yet that doesn’t quite seem to be the case. In fact, the Sonos Era 100 and Era 300 do not support Google Assistant. It is one of the most widely used voice assistants in our country. Amazon’s Alexa and Apple’s Siri, on the other hand, are present. So on your iPhone, you won’t experience any problems.

So if you have an Android device, you are missing an important feature. As an Apple user yourself, you may not be affected, but suppose your partner has an Android device, for example. Then that one cannot use Google Assistant.

What can Android users do?

Still, there is a solution. This requires Android users to put a special receiver with the device. Of course, that is quite cumbersome and does not give the same experience as iPhone owners.

Well Google Assistant is thus not there for Android users, but what is there? One of the new features is Trueplay. It’s a system that reads the room it’s in. So it notices if the sound bounces against it and how far the audio goes. Thus, the system adjusts the sound, according to the situation.

Despite the price and not supporting Google Assistant on Android, do you want the speakers? They will be available to order in the Netherlands starting March 28.
