On July 3, 2023, Threads was created. The platform from Instagram owner Meta was supposed to make Twitter forget Twitter in bad times. Did it succeed a bit?
A year after its inception, it becomes clear that Threads, the app of Facebook and Instagram owner Meta, has 175 million monthly active users. Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, announced these figures himself.
On July 3, 2023, Threads appeared as a kind of enrichment of Instagram to make up for the loss of Twitter, which was in dire straits due to Elon Musk’s acquisition. It took a while for the platform to become available in our country, but now more and more people seem to be embracing it.

Threads as a Twitter alternative is…successful?
So things seem to be going well for Threads. Meta announced in February that the platform now had 130 million monthly users. Two months later, in April, the company announced growth of 20 million monthly users. So in the past three months, with a total of 175 million monthly active users, that has grown significantly.
Twitter has been called X for a while and due to Elon Musk’s policies, there are doubts about its survival. Threads seems to be a good alternative for a small portion of users. The convenience by linking to Instagram seems to please, and considering that first platform is already for images, the vast majority of users focus purely on text.
According to Meta, 63% of users only post with text. The remaining users do use images, considering one in four posts on the platform does consist of images.
Does this say anything about the success of Threads? No, not necessarily. Elon Musk previously revealed that X currently boasts 600 million monthly active users. While the presence of bots and spam accounts calls that number into question, it does show that there is a large group of people who at least give Threads a chance.
Twitter is not loading because you did not give permission.
𝕏 has 600 million monthly active users, about half of which use the platform every day
