Android vs iPhone these smartphones have the longest battery life

The iPhone 17 is likely to get a faster screen

Apple has so far only given the Pro models of the iPhone a high refresh rate screen. But that may just start to change with the iPhone 17.

Pro models of the iPhone have had ProMotion screens since the iPhone 13 Pro. Those screens refresh 120 times per second instead of 60 times, as has long been common. The higher refresh rate makes your iPhone feel faster. In fact, movements feel a lot smoother.

The iPhone 16 still didn’t get a ProMotion screen this year, which caused disappointment for many tech fans. But with the iPhone 17, they may have better luck. Indeed, it seems that that device, which is likely to be presented by Apple next September, will indeed get a ProMotion display.

Apple orders faster screens for iPhone 17

Indeed, a Chinese tidbit called Digital Chat Station reported this weekend that materials ordered by Apple indicate that the company will give the iPhone 17’s screens a faster speed. Those rumors are in line with reports we saw earlier about the screens of upcoming iPhone models.

Ross Young of Display Supply Chain Consultants previously told MacRumors that Apple will give both the regular iPhone 17 and the new iPhone 17 Air, a thinner variant of Apple’s smartphone, ProMotion. Of course, as with the iPhone 16, upcoming Pro models will also get such a faster screen.

You don’t miss it until you’re used to it

Many people who have an iPhone 16 without a fast screen won’t miss much at this point. As long as you’re used to a screen with a refresh rate of 60 frames per second, that often feels fast enough. But once you often use higher-speed screens, that’s often what you get used to.

Similarly, newer MacBook models have long had screens that can refresh 120 times per second, which makes them feel faster than models with slower screens. If Apple decides to equip all iPhones with a ProMotion screen next year, the current iPhones will be the last with slower screens.
