In the Netherlands, the weather can turn any minute. Chamelo’s smart glasses are the perfect solution to this changeable climate.
2024 may be the year of smart glasses. We’ve seen all kinds of things come along in recent months. Think Project Orion, Snapchat Spectacles and sunglasses from Meta and Ray-Ban.
Chamelo is also taking a stab at success with a new pair of smart glasses, the Prime. These glasses could well be a gamechanger in the world of smart glasses. We’ll tell you exactly why.
Discover Chamelo’s new smart glasses
Most smart glasses have a built-in microphone or speaker. But Chamelo looks at it from a different angle. The Prime glasses automatically switch from regular glasses to sunglasses thanks to a built-in light sensor. No more hassle of changing glasses when you go outside.
The smart glasses have a cool Autopilot feature (and no, it has nothing to do with Tesla’s self-driving cars) that automatically adjusts the tint of the lenses according to the environment. For example, if you walk outside on a sunny autumn day, the glasses will cause the lenses to darken. Thus, your eyes are optimally protected.
Tint adjustment is faster than light. In fact, Chamelo promises that it only takes 0.1 second. The patented Eclipse Tint-Adjustable lenses can easily switch between four tint levels, from 9% to 45% tint. You can choose between two different styles: smoke for a classic look, and Fire with an orange finish.
But you’re not as lucky if you need smart prescription glasses. Chamelo does not currently offer prescription options. But good news, the brand plans to change this in the future. Just a little more patience, then.
How much will the glasses cost?
The Prime glasses have black frames and weigh only 30 grams. It is also sweat and water resistant, with an IPX4 rating. And if you prefer to adjust the tint yourself, you can turn off the Autopilot feature and adjust the tint manually by swiping across the arm of the smart glasses.
The Chamelo Prime glasses will be available from December for $249 (234 euros). About expanding to Europe, unfortunately, nothing is known yet. But we will of course keep an eye on it for you.
