These tips are essential for your Samsung Smart TV

If you have a Samsung Smart TV in your home, then you know how nice the device is. But there’s always room for improvement.

With a Samsung Smart TV, you have thousands of apps and games at your fingertips. The operating system is wonderful on its own, but there are a few things you can do to make your viewing experience even better.

Samsung Smart TV’s default settings work just fine, but we recommend playing around with them for a while. That way you can set up your smart TV to your liking. We give you a few tips that can help you do this.

Make your Samsung Smart TV even better with these tips

Here come the best tips for your smart TV.

#1 Adjust your recommendations

Samsung’s Home screen is often full of recommendations that probably have little to do with your viewing habits. Fortunately, you can easily adjust this so that only the streaming services you actually use appear.

Scroll all the way down and click Preferences under the Media Options heading. Here you can easily give your favorite streaming services a thumbs up. That way you get recommendations that actually interest you, rather than suggestions from services you never use.

#2 Change the quick Settings menu

The quick settings on your Samsung Smart TV are convenient, but often you have to scroll several times to get to the options you want. To avoid this, you can change the order of the shortcuts. Simply hold down a setting and drag it to a different spot.

This is especially useful for the settings you use most often, such as brightness, sound settings or picture mode.

Even less scrolling?

A smart tip is to move the “All Settings” button all the way to the left so you can quickly access the full settings menu without endless scrolling.

#3 Use Alexa in Place of Bixby

It makes sense that Samsung Smart TV uses Samsung’s own voice assistant, Bixby, by default. But if you already have an Amazon Echo or other Alexa devices in your home, it’s much more convenient to use Alexa instead of Bixby.

Alexa is more versatile and can help you not only search for content, but also control your other smart devices in the home. To set up Alexa, go to Settings > General & Privacy > Voice. Here you can set Alexa as your default voice assistant. This will make controlling your TV much easier.

#4 Use your phone as a remote control

Lost your remote control? No problem, because with the Samsung SmartThings app on your phone, you can control your Smart TV as if you had a remote in your hands. Once you’ve downloaded the app and linked your TV and phone to the same Samsung account, you can control the TV from your phone.

You have access to all features such as volume, channels and even a search function. You can also use your phone to enter text, which is useful for searching for shows or movies without using the virtual buttons on the TV itself.

#5 Play sound from your headphones and Samsung Smart TV Simultaneously

Samsung offers a unique feature that lets you play sound through both TV speakers and Bluetooth headphones at the same time. This is especially useful if someone in the room has trouble hearing the sound from the TV properly, or if you just need a higher volume yourself without disturbing others.

Go to Settings > General & Privacy > Accessibility > Multi-output Audio and turn it on. You can then choose to pair your Bluetooth headphones and have the sound play through the TV speakers simultaneously. Unfortunately, this doesn’t work with external soundbars, but it’s a handy option if you only use your TV speakers.

#6 Enable sleep timer on Samsung Smart TV

For busy parents, it is bound to happen sometimes that the kids fall asleep while watching a movie or series. If this happens often, you might want to set a sleep timer. Your Samsung Smart TV will then automatically go to standby when it has not been used for a certain amount of time.

First, open the television’s settings. Then select Timer and turn on the sleep timer. In the next menu, you can set your own time between 10 and 120 minutes.

#7 Use the web browser

Another way to stream content that you might not be able to find in the apps on your Samsung Smart TV is to use the built-in web browser. If an app you’re looking for isn’t in the store, you can often just go to that service’s website and play your content there.

It may not be the easiest solution, but it works if there is no app available. You can even save your favorite sites for quick access later.
