Electric cars are quieter than combustion engine cars. At Aston Martin, they’ve come up with something that allows electric cars to still offer a cool experience.
Most, normal electric cars are silent or make a buzzing sound so you are less likely to overlook them. Producers of faster cars sometimes give their cars artificial engine sounds to make them reminiscent of combustion engine models.
Aston Martin, known for its chunky twelve-cylinder bolides, has yet to produce an all-electric model, but eventually plans to do so. That’s set to happen before 2030, which is still a while away. Still, CEO Adrian Hallmark has already figured out how to make his brand’s first electric car offer a cool experience.
Aston Martin with built-in vibrations
Incorporating artificial vibrations into new cars from the brand seems like a good way for Hallmark to strengthen the emotional connection between the car and the driver. A recent ride in a Mercedes-AMG EQS gave him that idea, he tells Top Gear. That car “physically resonates” without the need for fake gears or artificial engine sounds, Hallmark said.
He thinks it would be a good idea to study the engine of the Aston Martin Valkyrie closely and, based on that, build certain vibration frequencies into the base of an electric car. In this way, the feeling generated by the Valkyrie should be replicated, without the actual presence of a large twelve-cylinder under the hood.

No more details on new car yet
Hallmark did not reveal more details about the brand’s first electric car. What the vehicle will look like is still unknown, as is what the car will be called. Nor is it yet clear what price tag the new vehicle will carry. Aston Martin is expected to come out with a hybrid car first.
Making a good Aston Martin on electricity is difficult because batteries create a high weight of a car. Therefore, according to Hallmark, it is difficult to create a dynamic car that drives like sports cars we already know. Moreover, most Aston Martin fans would not be waiting for an electric version just yet.
