Robotic vacuum cleaners are becoming part of more and more people’s households. A new vacuum cleaner from Roborock is equipped with a robotic arm, to clean up stuff for you.
Robotic vacuum cleaners are very useful for people who don’t like vacuuming themselves, or prefer to spend as little time as possible doing it. The smart devices map out your home, and are able to keep the floor clean for you. If your floor is littered with stuff, they will deftly navigate around it.
This is convenient, but also ónhandy. The floor under stuff is not vacuumed that way. Chinese company Roborock has come up with a solution to this problem. The latest vacuum cleaner from the manufacturer, presented at CES 2025 in Las Vegas, is equipped with a robot arm. That arm can pick up your stuff so that your entire floor is cleaned.
Vacuum cleaner maps your stuff first
While vacuuming, the Roborock Saros Z70 maps out where in your space there are items on the floor that can be picked up. The robotic arm can pick up objects up to 300 grams, moving with five axes. Once it finishes vacuuming, it goes back to where the items are. It picks those up and places them in a pre-designated spot.
Then the robot vacuum returns, to vacuum the floor under the items as well. By default, the robotic arm would be disabled, reports Forbes. You can turn it on via Roborock’s app. Safety has also been considered. For example, there is an emergency button that can immediately disable the arm.
Unclear what device costs
The gripping arm has been named OmniGrip. It is not yet clear what the new Roborock vacuum cleaner should cost. According to The Verge, which also has a video of the new Saros Z70 in action, the device will be available starting this summer.
Whether the vacuum cleaner will also come to our country remains to be seen. No information on that has been shared at this time either. According to Roborock, the vacuum cleaner is capable of picking up and moving more than a hundred different types of objects.
