WhatsApp seems to be adding a feature just before the new year that turns a message into a party. Android users could already use the feature.
You can easily express your feelings through WhatsApp by using emojis. You can send an appropriate emoji for every imaginable feeling. Even if you have something to celebrate, you have something to choose from. For example, you can send a party horn, or an emoji of a face with a party hat on that is blowing on a rolling horn.
Those who send such emojis via WhatsApp on Android may have already noticed that when you do so, confetti appears in your chat image. That confetti disappears again after a short time, but gives the chat a festive feel. iOS users did not yet have the feature, but that appears to be about to change.
New WhatsApp feature is now being tested
In fact, according to WABetaInfo, the feature is also in a new test version of WhatsApp for iOS. There, the feature works exactly the same as on Android, which is to be expected. Those who send a party key will get a chat screen full of confetti for a short time, just like on Android.
When the feature will come out and be usable in the final version of WhatsApp for iOS is not clear. WhatsApp itself is not reporting that. Before Christmas may be a little too soon, but perhaps the feature will be available before the turn of the year. In that case, it’s even better to wish someone a Happy New Year, with confetti.

Features coming to one platform more often first
WhatsApp is more often releasing features first on one platform and then another. Just Friday, for example, we reported that Android users will soon be able to adjust the playback speed of a video on WhatsApp just like iOS users.
It will be possible to choose the normal speed (1x), a faster version (1.5x) and a version twice as fast as normal (2x). iOS users have already been able to adjust the playback speed of videos for some time, to the same speeds. Currently, the feature is still being tested in the test version of WhatsApp for Android. A release is expected soon.
