Sometimes it’s no problem to give your friends a treat once, when you order food through an online portal like Uber Eats or Thuisbezorgd. But we can imagine that it’s not nice to always be the odd one out when it comes to paying or advancing money. And sending ticks after the fact is sometimes such a hassle to figure out.
Uber Eats has now come up with something for that. Admittedly, it is not a genius or unique idea, but it is nice that it is finally possible: splitting bills. This way everyone can immediately see what they have spent on the food they are looking forward to eating minutes later. As an initiator, you don’t have to fiddle with ticks afterwards.
Uber Eats splits the bill for you
Ordering is done in a different way. You have to indicate that you are placing a group order, after you have chosen a restaurant. You do that by using the menu: the three dots at the top right. Then you invite your friends, who must click on a link. Oh, and download the app, of course.

Then they can choose what they want to eat, after which they also take care of the payments themselves. Of course, should you be in a generous mood, you can pick up the tab. In that case, Uber Eats allows you to set a maximum amount, so your friends don’t secretly pick the most expensive items on the menu.
At the same time
Whether you’re the goody-goody or have your friends pay for their own food, all the food arrives at the same time. Uber Eats additionally allows you to place orders in advance for a fun evening. This can be done up to seven days in advance. That way, you don’t have to worry about the food on the night.
Everyone in the group can indicate in time what they are in the mood for. Should anyone neglect to do so (there’s always someone who doesn’t respond…), the app sends out a reminder. Whatever you guys do or however you go about it, things like “I’ll pay tomorrow, okay?” won’t work after this update.
