WhatsApp is constantly coming up with new features. This time, the app helps you add contacts even easier.
Meta is not sitting still when it comes to WhatsApp. The developer has been adding quite a few new features lately. Still, the latest one is a special one because you may have thought you always had it.
Yet that’s certainly not the case. It now becomes even easier to add contacts you have on other devices.
WhatsApp lets you add contacts even easier
WhatsApp is mostly used on your smartphone, but nowadays the app can also be used on other devices. Think of your laptop, tablet (as long as it’s not an iPad) and even the smart glasses from Ray-Ban and Meta. Of course, there is also the web version, which allows you to open WhatsApp on any device that has an Internet browser.
Very convenient, of course, but one feature was still missing. You could add contacts via your smartphone, but not on other devices. Pretty strange, since it is possible on other devices.

Yet this is more complicated than you think, since WhatsApp is linked to your phone number. It is logical that you don’t always have a phone number of someone you email with, for example. It was therefore impossible to add such a person. That is going to change and it is also better for your privacy.
Better features coming soon
For example, you will soon be able to add and manage contacts via WhatsApp Web and Windows. In addition, it will be possible to save a contact exclusively on WhatsApp. This is useful if you share a phone with others or want to keep personal and business contacts separate if you have more than one WhatsApp account.
If you have saved such contacts, they will be automatically restored when you change devices. So you don’t have to worry about losing a contact.
These features also enable a new feature. For example, you will soon be able to create a username in WhatsApp, so you no longer have to share your phone number. That immediately gives you even more privacy. Exactly when that feature will come is still unknown. We will have to wait much longer for another feature. You can read more about this below.
