The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 is currently Samsung’s most expensive smartphone. Its successor, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 may change that, as it may be less expensive than the S24.
Fold phones are getting better and better because the teething problems are now out of the way. Those who compare the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 to the first generation see a huge difference.
However, there is still a drawback: the price. However, that may just change with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6. It may even be cheaper than the S24.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 may become cheaper than the S24
Although we will probably have to wait until July of this year for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, several pieces of information are already leaking out. One of the most notable rumors is the price of the device.
That lower price is partly due to the fact that Samsung appears to be coming out with not one but two Galaxy Fold 6s this year: a regular and an Ultra version. The Ultra will obviously then have better specs.
And there seems to be good reason for that, as Chinese competitors are making considerably cheaper folding phones. At first these were only available in China, but companies are increasingly bringing them to other countries as well.
According to Korea’s Sisa Journal, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold has a target price of 1.05 million won, which converts to 721 euros. This puts the price well below that of the S24. The latter has a starting price of 899 euros.
Will we get cheaper folding phones?
And should this really be true, this will be a big step that could change the playing field as a whole. Folding phones don’t often come in under 1,000 euros and certainly not the folding versions. So should Samsung go down significantly with the price of the Galaxy Z Fold 6, the competition will have to follow to keep up.
It does mean that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 will no longer be the flagship. That honor will then go to the Ultra. It is possible that the specs will then be reduced a bit in order to command a lower price.

According to rumors, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 would get a lesser processor and battery compared to the ultra. However, the camera would be identical to the more expensive model.
Anyway, these are all still rumors so we have to wait and see what Samsung really comes up with. We probably won’t get a real answer to that until summer as well.
