Apple has overtaken Samsung as the number one smartphone manufacturer in 2023 for the first time in about 10 years. But what were the top 10 most popular smartphones of the past year? We take you through.
The top 10 consists mostly of Apple. Seven, in fact, are iPhones. But which one manages to capture the top spot? It may not be the one you expect.
The most popular smartphones of 2023
The only other brand featured in the list is Samsung. Still, Apple is not doing as well as the previous year. In 2022, these were eight smartphones out of 10.
The iPhone 14 Pro Max was the most popular phone last year, with the iPhone 15 Pro Max as a close second. It is notable that the first and second spots differ by only one million smartphones, as the iPhone 15 Pro Max only had 3 months to achieve this.
What about Android?
The most popular Android smartphone is the Samsung Galaxy A14, the 4G version that is. This phone ranks sixth, above the iPhone 15 and 15 Pro.
Interestingly, the 4G variant sold more than the 5G variant. Apparently, people would rather save on internet speed than pay more for 5G. The Samsung A54 and A14 (5G) are also on the list, ranked eighth and ninth in the list of the most popular smartphones.
