Photo accidentally deleted on your iPhone or Android? Here’s how to get it back

Have you just taken the perfect picture with your iPhone or Android, you accidentally delete it. You’re really not the only one this happens to. Fortunately, it doesn’t have to mean you’ve lost it forever. There is a way to get it back.

The iPhone and high-end Androids are ideal smartphones for taking good photos. Apple and brands like Samsung and Google put a lot of attention on the camera, and that results in good snapshots. Still, it happens that you accidentally delete a photo you don’t really want to lose. We tell you how to retrieve it.

Recovering deleted photos on your iPhone

Fortunately, Apple has already built a security feature into the iPhone. In fact, Apple always saves your deleted photos and videos on the iPhone for 30 days. A smart feature because this is a mistake that can happen to all of us from time to time.

To do this, you have to go to Albums in the Photos app on your iPhone. There you scroll all the way down and see “Recently Deleted” displayed. If you click on this, you’ll first have to use your Face ID or code to get in. Once there, you’ll see the photos you’ve deleted in the last 30 days. In that folder, by the way, you can also choose to permanently delete a photo or video.

Even better, of course, is if you back up your photos regularly. That comes in handy if you lose or severely damage your phone, for example. You can do that via iCloud on your iPhone, of course, but also with apps like Google Photos.

Conjuring back photos on Android

Google Photos is used by many Android phones. That app has a similar feature. Google also stores photos for 30 or 60 days, depending on whether you store them in the cloud. By the way, you can also do this on your iPhone.

On your Android or iPhone, go to the Google Photos app and then to Library. There you’ll find the Recycle Bin. This is where your deleted photos are.

Not in the recycle garbage can?

Can’t find your photos on your iPhone or Android app? Then they are probably gone for good. Still, there is one last option. The program Stellar Data Recovery might work.

There is a major drawback to this, however, as this software for your iPhone is not free. Moreover, it does not work on Android. The price is 39.99 euros and there is no guarantee that it will actually work, although the software does get good reviews.
