Last night the latest Xbox Showcase took place and a lot was announced again; from games like Call of Duty to new consoles.
The big annual Xbox Showcase took place again yesterday and a mega amount was announced. New release dates were released, trailers were released and we were even teased with brand new Xbox console variants.
It can be hard to remember all this new information all at once, which is why everything is listed once again. At least we have plenty to look forward to these next few years.
Xbox Showcase 2024
A nice lot has been announced again at the Xbox Showcase 2024, and here is all the new information nice and clear.
New Xbox consoles
Among other things, three new Xbox console variants were announced at the 2024 showcase, and all are coming out this year. Two of the new consoles are variants of the more expensive Xbox Series X and one is a variant of the cheaper Xbox Series S.
First, a white disc-less version of the Xbox Series X is coming out. The console has 1TB of storage and will cost about $450. There will also be a Galaxy Black Special Edition of the Series X, as you might guess it has a starry sky design. This console has 2TB of storage and is going to cost about 600 euros. Finally, there will be a 1TB version of the Xbox Series S for about 350 euros. There is nothing else about this.
Gears of War: E-Day
There will be another new Gears of War game, this one called E-Day. The sci-fi shooter game will be made by Coalition, which is the internal Xbox studio that handles everything for the Gears franchise. Unfortunately, there is no release date for the new game yet.
The announcement trailer takes us all the way back into the past and is completely based on the original Gears games. E-Day is set, fittingly enough, fourteen years before the original game. Marcus Fenix is back in the new Gears, but the Xbox game will have a completely original story.
Assassins Creed: Shadows
We also got a first look at the new Assassins Creed game called Shadows at the Xbox Showcase. It was announced a while ago and will be set in ancient Japan. The game will be released on Nov. 15 this year.
We haven’t seen a whole lot of gameplay yet, but we now have an idea of what the world and characters will look like. Still, there’s a good chance we’ll get more information soon. Ubisoft is having an all-you-can-eat showcase today, June 10.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
The new Indiana Jones game; The Great Circle, is also getting closer and closer. There is still no release date, but Xbox assumes the game will be out sometime in December. During the showcase, we got another new trailer.
The new trailer lasts more than 5 minutes and therefore gives a clear picture of what we can expect in December. We will of course play as the young Harrison Ford in the Xbox game, and get to go on a dangerous adventure as Indiana Jones.
Avowed
As with Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, we have also received more information about another game with no clear release date; Avowed is also coming out sometime this year. Earlier sources did report that the game is going for a November release.
The 2024 Xbox Showcase did give us another new trailer for Avowed, so the approach is somewhat the same as last year. This new first-person RPG from Obsidian studios will be a nice combination between fantasy, adventure and action.
Life is Strange: Double Exposure
The star of the original Life is Strange video game, named Max, is back in the new game in the series; Double Exposure. This becomes clear from the new trailer released during the Xbox Showcase 2024.
The great thing about this game is that we do already have a release date. The game comes out on October 29 this year. So it’s only a few months away before you can play Life is Strange: Double Exposure for yourself.
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024
There is also a new trailer of the new Microsoft Flight Simulator coming out this year. The game also already has a release date for Xbox and PC; Nov. 12. So you know exactly when you can fly around on your Xbox.
There are all kinds of new fat planes and other aircraft in the 2024 version of Microsoft Flight Simulator. For example, you can fly in a hot air balloon, be a firefighter in a plane, advertise with your plane and much more. Fans have plenty to look forward to.
Fable
For the first time in fourteen years there will be a new Fable game. The last game in this franchise came out in 2010, but this is about to change. Fable is supposed to come out sometime in 2025, so just be patient.
The new trailer for the game at the Xbox Showcase 2024 focuses not so much on the gameplay of the game, but rather on the story and characters. Fable’s story follows a character named Humphry who is forced out of retirement by the threat of a mysterious figure.
Perfect Dark
We’ve known by now for four years that there will be a new Perfect Dark game, but at the Xbox Showcase 2024, we now got gameplay for the first time. And the game certainly looks good.
The new Perfect Dark game will be a reboot of the original game from 24 years ago, from the year 2000. Although the game took a lot of inspiration from the first two Perfect Dark games, the new version will have a completely original story.
Diablo IV
Although the Diablo franchise is not getting a new game, the fourth installment in the series is getting a new expansion. This new piece of playable hell has been appropriately named Vessel of Hatred and will be released on Oct. 8.
An accompanying trailer has also been released of the expansion. In it, we didn’t get any new gameplay, as it will be similar to the original Diablo IV game. But we did get a terrifying teaser of what to expect.
Age of Mythology: Retold
Soon we can expect the final version of Age of Mythology for the Xbox and PC. The strategy game comes out on Sept. 4 and looks cool. A new trailer was also released during the Xbox Showcase 2024.
In the new trailer for Age of Mythology: Retold, we get a nice representation of what we can finally expect from the game. As such, we have lots of new gameplay from all sorts of different perspectives.
World of Warcraft
The wonderful world of World of Warcraft is also getting new content. Like Diablo IV, the game is getting a new expansion. The new expansion announced during the Xbox Showcase will be titled; The War Within and will be released on Aug. 26.
So we have to wait a few more months before we can play the expansion. But Xbox is making sure to keep up the hype with a new cinematic trailer of the World of Warcraft expansion.
Fallout 76
Following the success of the Fallout series on Prime Video, we are also getting new video game content. An expansion to the worst rated but newest main story game Fallout 76 is coming. Skyline Valley is already coming out on June 12 and new content is also coming in early 2025. The Xbox Showcase gives Fallout fans a lot to look forward to.
In the June 12 update, the Fallout 76 map gets an expansion. It will include a brand new area called Shenandoah in the south of the map. You can also play Fallout 76 as a Ghoul starting in 2025. Bethesda certainly knows how to make fans happy.
Starfield
But Bethesda isn’t just sticking to Fallout at the Xbox Showcase 2024. The Xbox-exclusive game Starfield is also getting a new expansion called Shattered Space. We can expect this expansion sometime in 2024, with no specific release date so far.
The new expansion is about a mysterious force in the city of Dazra. In the Shattered Space DLC, you can explore this mysterious force, discover a new planet and gain access to unique weapons, spacesuits and other equipment.
State of Decay 3
There is also a new teaser from the third installment in the State of Decay series. We don’t yet have a release date or any idea at all of when the game will come out, but at least we know for sure that we will get it at some point.
The creator, Undead Labs, revealed back in 2020 that the game was in the works, but until the Xbox Showcase 2024, we hadn’t gotten any information about the game. The new trailer doesn’t tell much, but at least fans have something.
Doom: The Dark Ages
There had been rumors about it for quite some time, but now we really know for sure. A new trailer from the Xbox Showcase 2024 reveals that the Doom franchise will travel to a dark fantasy realm in the new game Doom: The Dark Ages.
The newest addition to the Doom series will come out in 2025. So far, we don’t have a specific release date. What we do know is that the game will be set in a fantasy version of the Middle Ages. But have no fear, even in these Middle Ages, Doom will remain just a shooter game.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6
It’s almost here then. A new Call of Duty game is on its way, and it’s closer than you think. During the Xbox Showcase 2024, a new trailer was released of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, plus a release date; Oct. 25.
In this new Call of Duty, we get a new story mode set in the 1990s in many different parts of the world, following the events of Call of Duty: Cold War. There will also, of course, be a new multiplayer mode with sixteen new maps to play on and a zombie mode.
The Xbox Showcase 2024 has given us plenty to look forward to, some of which is also pretty close. Xbox fans should be pleased with these new trailers and release dates.
