Release
First, Valorant is coming out this week for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox series S/X. This is more than four years after its original release on the PC. Fortunately, the hype for the game is still extremely high and many people still play the game. Now it is finally time for console players to enjoy it.
Friday, June 14 will not see the immediate release of the final version of the game, first there will be a limited beta version of Valorant for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox series S/X. If everything works well in this, the final version will come to console. However, it is important to note that you must sign yourself up for the beta version.
What is Valorant?
It’s obviously very nice da Valorant is coming to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox series S/X, but it’s helpful to know exactly what the game is about. Valorant is a first-person shooter where you fight each other in two teams of five.
Each player takes on the role of a particular agent. Each agent thus has their own special powers that the player can use to wipe out the other team. So it is not a realistic shooter, but has a lot of sci-fi elements. Also handy to know: the game is free.
PlayStation 5 and Xbox series S/X version is experimental
It was to be expected from the beta version coming out June 14, but Valorant for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox series S/X will still be fairly experimental. The beta version was created to test things that work differently on console than on PC.
Whereas hip-fire (shooting without zooming aiming) is the most common shooting method used on PC, this was still a bit of a work around to recreate on consoles. A new way of shooting was created for this purpose; focus. Controller players can still shoot hip-fire, but now have another mode that is actually a more precise version of hip-fire without having to zoom all the way in. Still, this focus mode is still a test.
