The problem making us wait longer for the iPhone 15 Pro

The iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max are taking longer to arrive. According to various sources, Apple is running into a problem, which means that production of the two top models is not running smoothly.

Larger screens for the Pro models of the iPhone 15 are putting pressure on Apple’s partners. According to The Information’s Wayne Ma and Bank of America analyst Wamsi Mohan, parties such as LG Display must reinvent their standard process, and that takes time.

iPhone 15 Pro (Max) may be delayed

Two different stories are circulating at the moment, but they boil down to the same thing. Whereas Bank of America analyst Wamsi Mohan expects Apple to bring the iPhone 15 Pro to market later, The Information’s Wayne Ma rather sees a shortage of smartphones.

Colleague Jeroen Kraak revealed earlier this week that the new iPhone models are doing something different in terms of the display. For example, the screen bezels will be thinner and the displays themselves slightly larger. According to insiders within LG Display, the manufacturing company, this is the reason for problems.

The South Korean firm has to adjust its production line because it is “facing a challenge. One of such proportions that it could cause there not to be enough iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max models available in September.

While Wayne Ma expects Apple to settle for a smaller supply, we at the editorial department think Bank of America’s Wamsi Mohan has the right expectation. Like 2021, it seems plausible to us that Apple will push back the launch of the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max.

Minor changes in 2023

So there is a good chance that the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus will be the only new smartphones on sale starting in September. So we expect the Pro and Pro Max sometime in October, or at worst in November.

The new iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max bring with them some minor improvements. In addition to thinner screen bezels, the two devices also say goodbye to the traditional mute button. In its place, Apple appears to be adopting an Action button (similar to the Apple Watch Ultra).

Furthermore, the casing will be titanium, the design changes a little bit and there will be a new periscope lens for the camera system. But we’ll tell you all about that in the article below.
