The fantastic horror game Doki Doki Literature Club! is currently available for free download on the Epic Games Store. This introduces you to a very dark game.
At first glance, Doki Doki Literature Club! seems like the opposite of a horror game. The game bulges with the color pink and in the screenshots you can see a couple of anime girls, with whom you have the chance to build a romantic relationship.
But don’t be fooled. While playing the game, you soon find out that it is a very dark game. Doki Doki is the horror game to play, and now you can do so extra simply. From Feb. 8 through Feb. 15, you have the chance to snag the game, rated 4.9 stars on the Epic Game Store, for free.
Not a traditional horror game
That the game is pretty dark is no secret or spoiler. When you boot up Doki Doki, you are greeted with a warning message. But in what way it is dark, I better keep it a secret. The game has a very original approach and it is not your traditional horror game. Therefore, you would do well not to look up too much information beforehand.
The free game is made in a visual narrative style, you don’t have to run around or fight monsters. Therefore, it is really about the story. You don’t have to worry about irritatingly high-pitched voices while playing Doki Doki, because the text is not read by voice actors. Now that would have been horror.

The game is completely free
The original version of the horror game Doki Doki is already free anyway, but right now the Plus version also costs nothing at all, it normally carries a price tag of 14.99 euros.
In addition to the basic story, the Plus version gives you seven additional stories and a 1080p upgrade for the game, among other things. Access to the music and concept art is also a nice extra for true fans.
