The PlayStation 5: we had to wait a long time for it, but now that it is finally available properly, we are enjoying it to the fullest. That’s partly due to the 10 games we think you should really try in June 2023.
The list below consists of the 10 best-reviewed games for the PlayStation 5 so far. Every month, we at WANT update the list to make sure you can fully enjoy your brand new console every month.
10 best PlayStation 5 games for June 2023
To determine which PlayStation 5 games you really need to play in June 2023, we listen to the gamers themselves. On various platforms (such as Metacritic), it is possible for gamers to rate a particular title.
So the top 10 is compiled by the community itself. Reviews from critics and our own findings are not included in this monthly list. Based on this, the following 10 titles are worthwhile in June 2023:
#1 Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key
JRPG (Japanese Role Playing Game) Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key may not be a familiar title to everyone. Beloved, for that matter, it is. And how. The game was released in March for the PlayStation 5 and has an average score topping 9.3 (by 141 reviews).
In the game, you follow Ryza and her friends on Corks Island, when a mysterious group emerges in the adjacent waters. Time to find out exactly what the group is doing here, who they are and clarify how the world works.
In addition to the PlayStation 5, the game is also playable on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC.
#2 It Takes Two
It Takes Two is a powerful adventure game that is all about teamwork. Not with a computer-controlled player, but seriously with another gamer. Indeed, together you step into the shoes of May and Cody: a married couple in divorce and somehow transported to another world.
Gaming together is enjoyment, and in that respect it doesn’t matter whether you’re playing on a PlayStation 5 or a PC: it really is a lot of fun. This is also reflected in the ratings of the gamers themselves, as 882 reviews give It Takes Two an average score of 9. Well worth it, then!
It Takes Two is also playable on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
#3 PlayStation 5: Astro’s Playroom
To showcase the power of the PlayStation 5, Astro’s Playroom was created. Although this was much more than just a demo, as gamers loved it. In 2023, it is still widely played and remains highly recommended.
Not surprisingly, more than 1,450 gamers give the game a fat nine on average. That’s how much fun it is.
#4 After Us
After Us is the perfect example of how critics’ and gamers’ ratings can differ greatly. While the former group gives the game only a 6.9, Piccolo’s game gets an 8.8 from players.
The adventure game puts you in the shoes of Gala, better known as The Spirit of Life. Together with her you have to explore a special abstract world and take the souls of animals to yourself. The game is not very big, as only 15 gamers have reviewed it. Does that say something about the reviews or are we dealing with a hidden gem?
In addition to the PlayStation 5, the game is also playable on PC and the Xbox Series X/S.
#5 Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun
Speaking of hidden gems, Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun is one! The game from developer Auroch Digital has received very few reviews so far (just out). There are only 8 critics who have given the game a rating, while on the other hand there are 7 gamers with a review. The average rating is an 8.7.
Those who have played the game are certainly positive. Some PlayStation 5 players are even calling it the best boomer shooter ever. Whether that’s actually the case, we don’t know, but it seems like an excellent idea to go find out.
In addition to the PlayStation 5, the game is also available on PC, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and Xbox Series X and S.
#6 PlayStation 5: Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse
After nearly 15 years, the Fatal Frame franchise is complete on the PlayStation. Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse is set 15 years after the mysterious disappearance of five girls on Rogetsu Isle (southern Japan). All five girls have been found, but their memories have vanished. Ten years later, two of those girls have died and the remaining three are trying to figure out exactly what happened.
With an average score of 8.7 out of more than 320 reviews, it’s safe to say that this title must suit you. But if that’s the case, a particularly fine experience awaits you.
In addition to the PlayStation 5, the game is also playable on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Xbox Series S/X.
#7 Hogwarts Legacy
Hogwarts Legacy: the Harry Potter dream finally coming true. At least, that’s what I concluded myself after playing the game for a review on WANT. Fortunately, many critics and gamers agree with me. The game is a delight, but only if you really love the magical world of Harry Potter.
Hogwarts Legacy is set almost a hundred years before the famous movies and offers gamers a magical world with a powerful story. There are now 3134 players who have reviewed the game and an average score of 8.7 has been rolled out.
In addition to the PlayStation 5, you can also play the game on your PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
#8 Dead Space
On October 13, 2008, Dead Space, a game by Electronic Arts, was officially released. The spicy horror game set in space was a huge success and quickly grew into a successful franchise. Fifteen years later, we return in time and enjoy the iconic game once again.
Same story, same gameplay, but fully armed with today’s graphical performance. Earlier this year, EA released the Dead Space remaster we were all waiting for. A success if you ask 890 gamers. They gave the game an average rating of 8.7.
In addition to the PlayStation 5, you can also play the title on PC and the Xbox Series X.
#9 PlayStation 5: Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection
Whoever says PlayStation, says Uncharted. So it is not at all surprising that the Legacy of Thieves Collection is in demand. We may not need to recommend the game to true fans anymore, but for gamers who missed it a bit, this is truly a delight.
Naughty Dog has combined two games, A Thief’s End and Legacy of Thieves, into one powerful game. Of course, not without also infusing the game with the powerful graphics performance of the PlayStation 5. The result is a delightful remaster that is greatly appreciated by a lot of fans. Over 900 gamers have awarded the game with an 8.7.
You can play the collection even if you don’t have a PlayStation 5. The game is also available for PC.
#10 Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy
After the gigantic blunder called The Avengers, Square Enix manages to salvage things with Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. The Marvel group’s iconic story is one you can experience to the fullest on your PlayStation 5 as a single-player game.
The RPG puts you in the shoes of the Guardians and makes you have to provide the galaxy with peace. Or just that bit of action it needs. The game receives an average rating of 8.7 from 1615 gamers.
In addition to the PlayStation 5, the game is also playable on your PC, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and Xbox Series S/X.
