Brand new game Xbox Game Pass is an insane hit

Sometimes your game doesn’t have to be full of slick graphics, a giant world or in-depth dialogue. This newcomer to Xbox Game Pass doesn’t have all those things and is still a mega hit.

These are bizarrely good times for gamers with Xbox Game Pass. Hell Let Loose, Assasin’s Creed: Valhalla, Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes and more. Sometimes a tear has to be wiped away, too, when GTA V departs from Game Pass, for example.

Fortunately, departing games make way for new games. And every so often, one of the newcomers turns out to be an outright hit. For example, the recently added Palworld was downloaded a whopping 7 million times. Now a new game is winning the hearts of gamers.

Brotato is ultra-fast, challenging and incredibly funny

The name alone, Brotato, makes you curious to say the least. And this Xbox Game Pass newcomer is a kind of game you don’t see very often these days. It’s an arena shooter. As the name suggests, you fight hordes of monsters for as long as you can. Simple right?

You might be wrong about that. Especially if you look at the simple drawing style. But Brotato becomes incredibly difficult in no time, and before you know it, you are knocked over by a whole wave of monsters.

How does Brotato work on Xbox Game Pass?

Taking on hordes of beautifully illustrated monsters is one thing. But how do you make sure you survive longer and longer? Fortunately, you don’t just have to use your potato hands. This Xbox Game Pass game has plenty of weapons on offer.

In Brotato, you can carry up to six weapons at a time. Where the potato stores these you don’t have to ask us. Furthermore, you can choose from a wide selection of traits and items. That way you can create your own build. There are even multiple types of potatoes to choose from. Do you flatten enemies with a shower of bullets or crush them to a pulp? It’s entirely up to you.

Downloaded more than a million times

Simple in appearance, challenging in execution. It appears to be a formula for success, the kind of game Xbox Game Pass players needed for a while. Not a big, slick open-world or a hyper-realistic shooter. No, a game literally starring a potato turned out to be enough.

The game has already been downloaded more than a million times. The game studio behind Brotato, Seaven Studio, can’t believe its luck and shared the results via X. It’s always extra nice to see when a small indie game studio manages to achieve such success. At least for us Xbox Game Pass users, it means that we have another game worth playing.
