The iPhone 15 Pro Max is forthcoming, but not until the end of this year. And yet we actually already know about it, in part because of the fact that manufacturers are already working on accessories. Because case designs are already leaking out, we already know more about Apple’s iPhone 15 Pro.
Somehow, keeping new Apple products secret has become increasingly difficult for the Cupertino-based tech giant. That is certainly true, then, of the new iPhone 15 Pro (Max), which is still a long way from being announced.
Case iPhone 15 Pro Max gives away a lot
This is certainly not the first time that leaked iPhone cases give away what new models will look like. That already happened with the 12, 13 and 14, and so it is now the case with the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
In recent months, several leaks and speculations about the iPhone 15 series have been circulating. The latest leak addresses an alleged case for the Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max. According to a leaker named Majin Bu, the protective case for the Apple iPhone shows an unexpected, albeit small, change to the device.
The best man has shared images of a protective case for the iPhone 15 Pro Max. The image shows a change to the upper part of the left frame of the protective case: the position of the mute button from previous iPhones.
The mute button has been present on iPhones for 16 years. If this leak turns out to be true, it looks like Apple is replacing this button for the first time on the iPhone 15, and that’s quite a thing.

Time for action?
Bu claims that the opening in the location of the mute button is a notable change to the device. He goes on to say that this is the “custom key” that replaces the mute button.
First of all, the cutouts for the mute switch on one of the iPhone 15 Pro cases are quite different. For example, there is a smaller position that indeed looks more like a mute button. There are rumors that Apple is using a capacitive button and ditching the current mechanical slide switch. And frankly, we have our doubts about that.
On the other hand, we had the same doubts about the removal of the Home button on iPhones after the 7 and 8. But that worked out well. So if Apple goes for an “Action button” like on the Apple Watch Ultra, that’s only progress. The large cutout does indicate that.
Perhaps we will soon be able to take “action” to silence our phones instead of simply muting them. Let’s wait and see how these rumors develop and if we can actually press a button for some new intriguing actions on our iPhones soon. We’ll have to wait for further updates to see if this “custom key” does indeed make its appearance.

Finally moving over to USB-C
It may take a while, but we’re here. Apple must and will switch to USB-C. Anyway, the bottom of the iPhone 15 Pro has a larger cutout for THE connector. This is due to the switch in response to EU regulations.
Other changes include larger cutouts for the camera and microphone, and somewhat repositioned power button and volume buttons. While we don’t expect the design of the iPhone 15 Pro Max to change tremendously, these tweaks are somewhat of a step forward.
It seems Apple is in the process of fine-tuning several aspects of the iPhone 15 Pro. A larger connector cutout and the possible switch to USB-C are certainly interesting developments. But let’s face it: so your previous cases and accessories are no longer usable.
Let’s hope these changes make for a better user experience. On the other hand, it’s not like we have much to complain about with current generations. But who knows, maybe Tim Cook has “one more thing”?
