Players Apex Legends are anything but happy with that 120Hz update

Apex Legends has finally released a 120Hz update for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X, but people are not happy at all.

Well-known shooter Apex Legends has released a new Performance Mode for players on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. In it, players will have access to 120Hz.

Still, not much satisfaction is sounding off about the new mode. The 120Hz update has been asked for a long time and now it is finally here. However, using Performance Mode has negative effects on the game. And players of Apex Legends are, to put it mildly, not happy about that.

Performance Mode Apex Legends

Ever since the release of the next-gen consoles (Xbox X/S and PlayStation 5) in 2020, players have been talking about a 120Hz update. Or at least an update better suited to the newer consoles’ stronger hardware. And with season 20 of Apex Legends, called Breakout, it’s finally here. The update has brought with it a fair amount of new content, but not everything is panning out so positively.

Since the new update, there has already been a fair amount of noise on the Internet from fans. They find it “disappointing. Picture quality took a big hit, according to Apex players. Things in the distance suddenly look blurry in the 120Hz update.

The lower image quality is a super big disadvantage when you are playing. Spotting an opponent earlier in the distance can make all the difference in a fight.

Custom Aim Assist

Besides the lower image quality in Performance Mode, there’s more to the story. Players are also upset about the custom Aim Assist in Apex Legends.

Aim Assist is a feature that helps players with aiming, as that can sometimes be tricky with a controller. It was presumably adjusted because of the 120Hz update. That actually makes for smoother movements, which should make aiming easier, but it doesn’t seem to work optimally in practice.

Breakout

Still, not everything is negative surrounding the update. Unlike Performance Mode, people are indeed positive about the new Straight Shot LTM game mode in Apex Legends. This offers faster pots and improved weapons.
