Not everyone is eager for the new iPhone 14. But not to worry: these 5 alternatives that run on Android can compete with Apple’s new models.
Some think iPhones are simply too expensive. Others simply don’t want to use an Apple device, or don’t like iOS. Especially since some Apple features can often be found quickly on Android already. These Android alternatives offer solace.
New phone? Not an iPhone 14 but an Android!
Fortunately, there are numerous excellent phones that can compete with the iPhone 14 series. We list five with Android. Oh and sneakily two alternatives from Apple itself, should you still want to keep using iOS. But we’ll come back to that.
The ‘regular’ iPhone 14 has quite a bit of competition (Image: Apple)
#1 The Android king: Samsung Galaxy S22
The Samsung Galaxy S22 is easily the biggest competitor to Apple’s iPhone. The Korean manufacturer’s flagship is available in three versions: the S22, the S22+ and the S22 Ultra. These cost 776.99, 919 and 1059 euros respectively with 128GB of storage.

The devices all have an Exynos 220 processor, wireless charging, a 12 megapixel camera sensor and three times Telephoto camera. The Ultra goes a step further with an integrated stylus and the option of ten times zoom.
#2 The elusive: Google Pixel 6 Series
Although the Pixel Series 7 is coming out soon, the 6 Series is definitely worth considering. It is safe to say that it is a formidable competitor to the iPhone 14.
Both the 6 and the 6 Pro have a Tensor chip that is not exactly comparable to Apple’s chip. Still, the other features are certainly worthy of note. For example, it has a 50-megapixel main camera and a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera. Also, these phones feature wireless charging.

The Android devices are also perfectly affordable: the regular 6 costs 581.99 euros with 128GB storage. The 6 Pro will cost you 790 euros (with the same storage).
#3 Double delicious: Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Z Fold 4
Aside from the fact that the specs of these devices are excellent: the design is more unique than that of the iPhone 14. So if you want to stand out, these are definitely recommended. The cheapest phone is 1039 euros (with 128GB storage). The price of the Fold 4 is much snappier: it costs 1749 euros with 256GB storage ánd case.

#4 Retestrak 4K screen: Sony Xperia 1 IV
Of course, we must not forget Sony’s Android flagship; a beast of a phone: the Xperia 1 IV. For your money, you get a device with a 4K OLED screen that has a refresh rate of 120GHz. In addition, the phone has 12 megapixel camera and a 12 megapixel ultrawide. The device goes on sale starting at $1309 with 256GB of storage.

#5 Chinese gem: OnePlus 10 Pro
While the 10 Pro is not the manufacturer’s best Pro model, the specs don’t lie. The phone has a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC processor, a 5,000mAh battery, 80W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and a QHD+ 120Hz OLED screen.

The 10 Pro also has a Hasselblad triple camera system. The main camera of this Android is 48 megapixels, the ultrawide one is 50 megapixels and there is also an 8 megapixel 3.3 Telephoto camera on the device. It retails for 804.95 euros with 128GB of storage.
iPhone 14 gets formidable competition from … Apple alongside Android?
Perhaps a striking choice to include two Apple devices in the list as well. But especially compared to the standard iPhone 14, these may be a smarter (and cheaper) choice.
Apple iPhone SE
The first is the iPhone SE, a budget phone on sale from Apple starting at $424.99. For that you get the model with 64GB, not a whole lot. It also does not have Night Mode and has an old design. But if your wallet is especially important, the SE is a great choice.

Apple iPhone 13/mini vs iPhone 14
First of all, Apple does not have an iPhone 14 mini this year. So if you go from that small form factor, the iPhone 13 mini is the best choice.

In addition, the iPhone 13 and 13 mini share the same chipset as the iPhone 14 and iPhone Plus. The only major differences are found in the latter’s slightly better cameras. So what will you pay for the iPhone 13? This one costs 899 euros. The mini costs 729 euros.
So reason enough to get an Android or go cheaper iPhones instead of the iPhone 14. Should you still really go for the new models, we recommend the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max.
