Grand Theft Auto 6 turns gold with these 7 Red Dead Redemption 2 features

Although we still have quite a while to wait for Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6), the fact is that the game is in the works. But what features are fans hoping the game will use from Red Dead Redemption 2? WANT editor Dennis Mons lists seven desired RDR 2 features.

Most likely, we won’t get to enjoy GTA 6 until around Christmas 2024. That’s eleven years after GTA V and over five years after Red Dead Redemption 2. But what could Grand Theft Auto 6 take over from the cowboy game?

GTA 6 will undoubtedly be a masterpiece like Red Dead Redemption 2

While it’s pretty apples to oranges comparison, it was abundantly clear in RDR 2 that it used elements of GTA. But what if we turned the tables? Here are seven features that fans hope to find in Rockstar’s new game.

1. Introduce hair growth like in Red Dead Redemption 2

Although it’s a relatively small thing, the fact that Arthur’s hair and beard grew added realism to RDR 2. One fan who hopes this is in GTA 6 as well is Redditor Snoo_61724 who even took the trouble to take a moment to create an illustration of this.

2. Make the open world in Grand Theft Auto 6 more lived-in

One of the “complaints” about GTA V was that Los Santos didn’t feel particularly realistic as a vibrant city. In RDR 2, however, Rockstar shows in St. Denis, for example, that this is perfectly possible.

Even the smaller towns had a lot of character. It really felt like the NPCs lived and worked there.

3. More seamless events in GTA 6 like RDR 2 does

One of the greatest charms of Red Dead Redemption 2 is to interact with “hidden” events at random moments. This allowed you and Arthur to end up in bizarre places that otherwise played no significant role in the main story.

Similar side quests were also in GTA 5 with “Strangers” and “Freaks,” but that was much more limited. So the next part could use that RDR 2 sauce.

4. An honor system in Grand Theft Auto 6.

In Red Dead Redemption 2 there is the Honor System that to some extent has quite an impact on Arthur. Being nice makes your life easier, while being a bad-ass makes you the terror of the city.

This is somewhat trickier in GTA 6, because crime and violence are precisely the guiding principles of the GTA world. Still, it wouldn’t hurt for Rockstar to figure out how to use something like that anyway.

5. Better lighting in GTA 6 during nights like in RDR 2

Reddit user Predator-FTW rightly hopes that GTA will have more atmospheric nights like in Red Dead Redemption 2. By the way, chances are high that this will happen, since we are now on the next generation of consoles anyway and we expect Rockstar to give GTA quite an upgrade in that regard.

6. More brutal violence like in Red Dead Redemption 2

While GTA 5 is not exactly a timid game, Red Dead Redemption 2 really goes a step further. As you can see from a screenshot by Redditor Notmmn, the game doesn’t shy away from glorious gory, and he would like to see the same in Grand Theft Auto 6.

However, the chances of this happening are slim. The GTA series is known for being less graphic with depicting almost horror-like violence, compared to Red Dead.

7. Improved gunplay and combat mechanics from RDR 2 in Grand Theft Auto 6.

Despite all the features that GTA V and GTA Online’s gunplay system offers, it actually feels pretty basic and almost seems like a step down from Grand Theft Auto IV. This is one of many areas where fans expect improvement.

Of course, no system is perfect and is also hugely subjective. Still, I found the firing of different types of weapons in Red Dead Redemption 2 unique and had a lot of impact. GTA 6 could certainly learn something from that.

All in all, of course, this wish list could get much longer. But hopefully Rockstar will heed these tips in the upcoming development time of Grand Theft Auto 6.
