SOS emergency notification is one of the new features of the iPhone 14. The feature was first launched only in the United States, but is now coming to the Netherlands. We tell you when.
Like every year, Apple comes out with the new iPhone. This one, of course, has all new features as well. With the iPhone 14, one of the most special new features was that you can send emergency notifications via satellite if you have no cellular network coverage.
SOS emergency notification via satellite
SOS emergency notification via satellite was only available in the United States when the iPhone 14 was launched. Meanwhile, this service is already active in other countries as well. Thus, even if you are in distress in Canada, Germany and France, for example, you can reach the emergency services when you have no coverage.
In the Netherlands, SOS emergency notification via satellite seems like an unnecessary feature, since you have coverage almost everywhere with your iPhone 14. Yet this is not always the case. Therefore, the feature would be a fine addition.
Soon that will be the case, and it will be sooner than you think. Later this month you will be able to use it. By the way, the service is being launched not only in our country, but also in Belgium, Luxembourg, Italy, Austria and Portugal.
You can use SOS emergency notification via satellite after activating your iPhone 14, 14 Plus, 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max. The service is free for the first two years. After that, you will have to pay for it.
Yellow iPhone 14
That’s not the only news Apple is coming up with today. For example, the company has also announced the yellow iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus.
As has become tradition, the company announces a new color for its phones in the spring. Other than the color, not much is different, as the smartphone just has the same specs as the colors presented in the fall.
